Working for the Utilities

Working for the utilities

And the Landlord's pocket dreams

Making rise my hostility

Don't they know their killing me

All day long I hold my tongue

Though I see things I know are wrong

Always try to get along

The foreman's hold on me is too strong

In two weeks I'll use my check

To loose the noose around my neck

Keep the lights and the water on

Pay the rent and it's all gone

Once a month I stay in town

Drink what's left of my wages down

If I fall upon the ground

The man he come wearing a frown
